Blood test results are usually available within 10–14 days, but processing can take up to 3 weeks depending on lab volume, weekends, or holidays. To keep your appointment on track, complete your blood draw at least three weeks before your visit.
How Long Results Typically Take
Most blood test results are available within 10–14 days after your draw.
However, timing can vary due to:
Weekends and holidays
Lab processing volume
The number or complexity of markers ordered
Because of these variables, we recommend planning as if results may take up to three full weeks.
Why Timing Matters
Your appointment is designed to review your lab data in detail — and use it to guide next steps.
If results are not in your chart before your visit:
Your provider won’t have the data needed to guide care safely
Your appointment may need to be rescheduled
Completing labs early helps ensure your visit stays focused, productive, and grounded in the right information.
When to Complete Your Blood Draw
To avoid delays:
Complete your blood draw at least 3 weeks before your appointment
Morning appointments are often easiest due to fasting requirements
This timing allows for processing, review, and chart preparation before your visit.
How You’ll Receive Your Results
Your lab results are emailed to you the morning of your appointment
During your visit, your provider reviews them with you in detail
After your visit, results are also available in your secure Elation Health Portal
Look for an email with the subject line “Today’s Visit + Lab Results.”
If Results Aren’t Ready in Time
If your results have not returned before your appointment:
We’ll work with you to reschedule so your visit can be as helpful and complete as possible
We know delays can happen, especially around holidays. Completing labs early is the best way to avoid interruptions in your care.
